These premium, long stemmed roses have large flowers that are sure to please. Your flowers will be picked fresh and delivered directly from the grower to your recipients door so that they will last much longer. So fresh that you might still detect a hint of the mornings dew. In fact, these flowers are so fresh, that we guarantee that they will remain fresh for a minimum of 7 days!Great RosesThese are the best roses I've ever gotten. They lasted for over two weeks. The largest roses I've ever seen. I was the envy of all my friends!
The leaves of most species are 5–15 centimetres long, pinnate, with (3–) 5–9 (–13) leaflets and basal stipules; the leaflets usually have a serrated margin, and often a few small prickles on the underside of the stem. The vast majority of roses are deciduous but a few (particularly in Southeast Asia) are evergreen or nearly so.
The flowers of most species roses have five petals, with the exception of Rosa sericea, which usually has only four. Each petal is divided into two distinct lobes and is usually white or pink, though in a few species yellow or red. Beneath the petals are five sepals (or in the case of some Rosa sericea, four). These may be long enough to be visible when viewed from above and appear as green points alternating with the rounded petals. The ovary is inferior, developing below the petals and sepals.
A yellow rose of variety 'Lowell Thomas'The aggregate fruit of the rose is a berrylike structure called a rose hip. Rose species that produce openfaced flowers are attractive to pollinating bees and other insects, thus more apt to produce hips. Many of the domestic cultivars are so tightly petalled that they do not provide access for pollination. The hips of most species are red, but a few (e.g. Rosa pimpinellifolia) have dark purple to black hips. Each hip comprises an outer fleshy layer, the hypanthium, which contains 5–160 "seeds" (technically dry singleseeded fruits called achenes) embedded in a matrix of fine, but stiff, hairs. Rose hips of some species, especially the Dog Rose (Rosa canina) and Rugosa Rose (Rosa rugosa), are very rich in vitamin C, among the richest sources of any plant. The hips are eaten by fruiteating birds such as thrushes and waxwings, which then disperse the seeds in their droppings. Some birds, particularly finches, also eat the seeds.
While the sharp objects along a rose stem are commonly called "thorns", they are actually prickles — outgrowths of the epidermis (the outer layer of tissue of the stem). True thorns, as produced by e.g. Citrus or Pyracantha, are modified stems, which always originate at a node and which have nodes and internodes along the length of the thorn itself. Rose prickles are typically sickleshaped hooks, which aid the rose in hanging onto other vegetation when growing over it. Some species such as Rosa rugosa and R. pimpinellifolia have densely packed straight spines, probably an adaptation to reduce browsing by animals, but also possibly an adaptation to trap windblown sand and so reduce erosion and protect their roots (both of these species grow naturally on coastal sand dunes). Despite the presence of prickles, roses are frequently browsed by deer. A few species of roses only have vestigial prickles that have no points.Long Stem Red RosesSending Flowers for Valentines Day

Aster (syn. Diplopappus Cass.) is a genus of flowering plants in the family Asteraceae. The genus once contained nearly 600 species in Eurasia and North America, but after morphologic and molecular research on the genus during the 1990s, it was decided that the North American species are better treated in a series of other genera. After this split there are roughly 180 species within the genus, all but one being confined to Eurasia.
The name Aster comes from the Ancient Greek word astron, meaning "star", arriving through the Latin word astrum with the same meaning, referring to the shape of the flower head. Many species and a variety of hybrids and varieties are popular as garden plants because of their attractive and colourful flowers. Aster species are used as food plants by the larvae of a number of Lepidoptera species see list of Lepidoptera that feed on Aster. Asters can grow in all hardiness zones.
The genus Aster is now generally restricted to the Old World species, with Aster amellus being the type species of the genus, as well as of the family Asteraceae. The New World species have now been reclassified in the genera Almutaster, Canadanthus, Doellingeria, Eucephalus, Eurybia, Ionactis, Oligoneuron, Oreostemma, Sericocarpus and Symphyotrichum, though all are treated within the tribe Astereae. Regardless of the taxonomic change, all are still widely referred to as "asters" in the horticultural trades.
In the UK there are only two native members of the genus of which one, Goldilocks is very rare, the other being Aster tripolium, the Sea aster. Aster alpinus spp. vierhapperi is the only species native to North America.
One notable thing about this flower is that its number of petals is a Fibonacci Number.

Sending Flowers for Valentines Day Roses and CarnationsSentiment and symbolism
A Carnation cultivar
Carnations are often worn on special occasions, especially Mother's Day and weddings. They were known as "Jove's Flower" in ancient Rome as a tribute to one of their beloved gods. In Korea, red and pink Carnations are used for showing their love and gratitude toward their parents on Parents Day (Korea does not separate Mother's Day and Father's Day, but has Parents Day on May 8). Sometimes, you can see parents wear a corsage of Carnation(s) on their left chest on Parents Day. Not only on Parents Day, but also on Teacher's Day (May 15), people express their admiration and gratitude to their teachers with Carnations, as Carnation has the meaning of 'admiration', 'love', and 'gratitude'.
It is the national flower of Spain, and the provincial flower of the autonomous community of the Balearic Islands. It is also the symbol of the Portuguese Carnation Revolution. The state flower of Ohio is a scarlet carnation. The choice was made to honour William McKinley, Ohio Governor and U.S. President, who was assassinated in 1901, and regularly wore a scarlet carnation on his lapel.
For the most part, carnations express love, fascination, and distinction, though there are many variations dependent on colour:
Light red carnations represent admiration, while dark red denote deep love and affection. *White carnations indicate pure love and good luck, while striped symbolise a regret that a love cannot be shared.
White Carnations are the official flower of the fraternity Delta Sigma Phi.
Red Carnations are the official flower of the fraternity Tau Kappa Epsilon.
Rose Carnations are the official flower of the Phi Mu Fraternity.
Carnations are the official flower of the Gamma Phi Beta sorority, as they are the longest lasting flowers.
Green carnations are for St. Patrick's Day and were famously worn by the Irish writer Oscar Wilde. The green carnation thence became a symbol of homosexuality in the early 20th century.
Purple carnations indicate capriciousness. In France, it is a traditional funeral flower, given in condolence for the death of a loved one.
Pink carnations have the most symbolic and historical significance. According to a Christian legend, carnations first appeared on Earth as Jesus carried the Cross. The Virgin Mary shed tears at Jesus' plight, and carnations sprang up from where her tears fell. Thus the pink carnation became the symbol of a mother's undying love, and in 1907 was chosen by Ann Jarvis as the emblem of Mother's Day, now observed in the United States and Canada on the second Sunday in May. A red carnation may be worn if one's mother is alive, and a white one if she has died.
In some cultures, howeverespecially French culturethe carnation symbolises misfortune and bad luck. . The Carnation is also the birth flower for those born in the month of January.
At Oxford University, carnations are traditionally worn to all examinations; white for the first exam, pink for exams in between and a red for the last exam.
Etymology
Some scholars believe that the name "carnation" comes from "coronation" or "corone" (flower garlands), as it was one of the flowers used in Greek ceremonial crowns. Others think the name stems from the Latin "caro" (genitive "carnis") (flesh), which refers to the original colour of the flower, or incarnatio (incarnation), which refers to the incarnation of God made flesh.
Although originally applied to the species Dianthus caryophyllus, the name Carnation is also often applied to some of the other species of Dianthus, and more particularly to garden hybrids between D. caryophyllus and other species in the genus.

I sent these to a friend who ran in the NYC Marathon. She said they lasted for weeks and were lovely and fresh. They arrived within a day of ordering and in good condition, and they were not expensive. What more could one ask?
Beautiful and lasting flowers
I ordered these to arrive on my Husbands and my Anniversary. They came on the day, were packaged well and were healthy when the package was opened. Not one flower or leaf was broken and there wasn't even any petals loose in the bottom of the box.
The box was marked "Fresh Flowers on the side with a warning to keep cool and out of direct sunlight.
These flowers were shipped on the 2nd of April and 5 days later they look better that when they arrived. The flowers arrived fresh and healthy but most were in bud, today every single flower is open and still perfectly healthy. They look as if they could live forever.
The bouquet itself is quite large with at least 2530 blooms, 10 of those being large, single specimens such as lilies, carnations and asters, the rest is made up of smaller roses, asters, lilies and a wonderful mix of greenery.
My Mom loved them! This was part of my order for my Mom's 91st birthday (see my other review for the mixed flowers). She loved them! They were fresh, in great condition, and there were many, many flowers.

Roses: Say, "Happy Valentine's Day" with this yellow rose flower bouquet. Send as a congratulations flower gift or thank you flower gift too.
A rose is a perennial flower shrub or vine of the genus Rosa, within the family Rosaceae, that contains over 100 species. The species form a group of erect shrubs, and climbing or trailing plants, with stems that are often armed with sharp thorns. Most are native to Asia, with smaller numbers of species native to Europe, North America, and northwest Africa. Natives, cultivars and hybrids are all widely grown for their beauty and fragrance.
The leaves are alternate and pinnately compound, with sharply toothed ovalshaped leaflets. The plants fleshy edible fruit is called a rose hip. Rose plants range in size from tiny, miniature roses, to climbers that can reach 20 metres in height. Species from different parts of the world easily hybridize, which has given rise to the many types of garden roses.
The name originates from Latin rosa, borrowed from Oscan from colonial Greek in southern Italy: rhodon (Aeolic form: wrodon), from Aramaic wurrd®°, from Assyrian wurtinnu, from Old Iranian *warda (cf. Armenian vard, Avestan warda, Sogdian ward, Parthian wâr).
Attar of rose is the steamextracted essential oil from rose flowers that has been used in perfumes for centuries. Rose water, made from the rose oil, is widely used in Asian and Middle Eastern cuisine. Rose hips are occasionally made into jam, jelly, and marmalade, or are brewed for tea, primarily for their high Vitamin C content. They are also pressed and filtered to make rose hip syrup. Rose hips are also used to produce Rose hip seed oil, which is used in skin products and some makeup products.
Rosa 'Harison's Yellow'
The Yellow Rose of Texas is a hybrid rose cultivar which is naturalized at abandoned house sites through the state of Texas and is found as a feral rose so often along the Oregon Trail that it is also called the Oregon Trail Rose. It is actually Harison's Yellow, which originated as a chance hybrid seedling of Rosa foetida that bloomed for the first time at the suburban villa of George F. Harison, attorney, between 8th and 9th Avenues on 32nd Street, north of New York City. The site of Harison's villa is now just south of the present General Post Office. The nurseryman William Prince of Long Island took cuttings and marketed the rose in 1830.
The Yellow Rose is the official flower of both Delta Xi Phi Sorority, Inc. and Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.

Delight your Valentine with this long lasting bouquet of Red Roses and Alstromeria
Alstroemeria commonly called the Peruvian Lily or Lily of the Incas, is a South American genus of about 50 species of flowering plants. Almost all of the species are restricted to one of two distinct centers of diversity, one in central Chile, the other in eastern Brazil. Species of Alstroemeria from Chile are wintergrowing plants while those of Brazil are summergrowing. All are longlived perennials except A. (Taltalia) graminea, a diminutive annual from the Atacama Desert of Chile.
Perhaps the most fascinating and telltale morphological trait of Alstroemeria and its relatives is the fact that the leaves are resupinate, that is, they twist from the base so that what appears to be the upper leaf surface is in fact the lower leaf surface. This very unusual botanical feature is easily observed in the leaves on cut flowers from the florist.
The genus was named for the Swedish baron Clas Alströmer (Claus von Alstroemer) by his close friend Carolus Linnaeus. The plant was first described by the French botanist Louis Feuillée. The plant's seeds were among many collected by Alströmer on a trip to South America in 1753.
The plants are distinctive vegetatively, with a rootstock consisting of a slender rhizome or group of rhizomes (the "crown"). Storage roots consist of sausagelike water storing structures "suspended" from the rhizome by major roots. In this way the root system resembles that of dahlias. Aboveground shoots may be very short in some alpine Andean species (a few cm tall) or up to about 1.5 m tall in other species. Each year (more often in some hybrids) up to 80 new shoots are produced from the rootstock and each terminates in an umbel of a few up to 10 or so flowers.
The flowers of Alstroemeria are generally showy and appear to be suited to pollination by bees. All six tepals (tepal denotes either petal or sepal when both are similar, as in lilies, amaryllis, etc.) are roughly similar. In some species two tepals are enlarged and vividly colored and act as "flags" for pollination. The ovary is inferior and the seeds are hard and rounded.
Uses of Alstroemeria ligtu
Many hybrids and about 190 cultivars have been developed, with different markings and colors, ranging from white, golden yellow, orange, to apricot, pink, red, purple and lavender. The most popular and showy hybrids commonly grown today result from crosses between species from Chile (wintergrowing) with species from Brazil (summergrowing). This strategy has overcome the problem of seasonal dormancy and resulted in plants that are evergreen or nearly so and flower for most of the year. This breeding work derives mainly from trials that began in the United States in the 1980s. The flower, which resembles a miniature lily, is very popular for bouquets and flower arrangements in the commercial cut flower trade. They have a vase life of about two weeks. It is sometimes called 'Ulster Mary' (as a word corruption).
